Wesburn Weekly September 3

Our intrepid grade 3/4 campers arrived back at school on Monday after having had a wonderful time last week at Oasis Camp in Mt Evelyn.  Congratulations to all of you for your fantastic behaviour and good manners.  I thoroughly enjoyed spending some time with students on the ropes course and cannot wait to see all the photos that were taken, especially some of Ms Withnall!  It was great to see everyone doing their best at the challenges and working as a team.  Well done!

I find it disappointing that I am regularly approached by parents with a variety of concerns about after school parking.  The most recent one was about courtesy and consideration for others.  Firstly, the area around the school gate where the yard duty teacher stands is the only spot from which the students are to leave the school.  The car parking area in front of this is a ‘pick up and go’ area only.  If you like to catch up and have a chat with friends, please do this at either end of the car park.  It can often be difficult to see cars backing out of a car park so, if you are already heading down Wylie Street towards the highway and you see someone backing out who may not have been able to see you, please stop and let them out.  If everyone would be considerate of others I would not have to write something every second week as a reminder!  Let’s model the type of behaviours that we expect our children to have, that of courtesy and consideration for everyone.

I would like to say a very BIG THANK YOU to the mums and their families that participated in the ‘Me and My Mum’ programme.  Last night was the ‘last night’ and we certainly enjoyed the feast of baked potatoes with all the trimmings and the beautiful desserts that mums brought along.  From my point of view I really appreciated the mums participating in conversations, sharing concerns and ideas, and the support and encouragement that each of us provided.  The whole programme was very informal and relaxed and a great opportunity for mums and kids to spend good times together and for dads to spend time with younger and older siblings.

Until next week …

Anne
