Welcome back to the final term for 2008. Once again it’s going to be a very busy time with the swimming programme, our open evening to celebrate Kitchen Garden Week, orienteering, junior school sports, end of year reports, and grade 6 graduation.
Some of you will have noticed the slimline water tank outside the toilet block. During the holidays all our toilets were changed to dual flush, we now have a ‘no flush’ urinal in the boys’ toilets, and all the toilets are flushed using water collected in the tank and pumped to the toilets. A monitor has been placed on our meter to check how much water we are using, but we are confident that this will reduce our mains water consumption considerably. Further work will be carried out within the next few weeks to enable all our kitchen gardens to be watered….more about that nearer the time.
I also hope that you noticed how beautiful our grounds were when you arrived back at school on Monday. Michael Alter, Ben Rostron and Naomi Parsons are the people to thank for this. If you see them around please thank them for the great work they have done.
Recently the staff at Wesburn received a lovely letter from a student teacher who had been placed at our school for term 3. I am reproducing the letter below because it made us feel very proud. I hope you will feel the same way.
“Dear Anne and all the staff at Wesburn Primary,
Thank you for making me feel so welcome at your school. This was my first placement, as many of you know, and it has been a wonderful experience.
The most outstanding feature of this school is the staff. I have been in many different organisations where teamwork is talked about more than practised. Here, I have seen it fully in action. There is a lot of respect, support and back up here and I have watched and been privileged to be included in a fantastic team over the last 8 weeks.
I will do all I can to promote the school out in the community.”
I think that our whole school community works as a team and I hope that you do too.
Until next week …
Anne
