What a wonderful sight it was to see almost the entire school sitting out on the oval eating Christmas dinner! With roast chicken, roast potatoes, honey carrots, peas and gravy followed by jelly, ice-cream, topping and sprinkles, and then finishing with a huge fruit platter, everyone was full. This was always going to be an ambitious event and I would like to applaud and thank the wonderful parents who put this all together: Kylie, Sam, Sharon, Nicki, Alison and Tracey. I would love to think that we might be able to repeat this at some time, but I’m not putting any pressure on the ladies!
Visitors to the school are commenting on the beautiful grounds we have at the moment. This is because we have one or two parents who just pop in unannounced and do the mowing or whipper snippering. They don’t ask for any thanks, they just do it. To those people, I’m thanking you anyway!
Orientation Day was great fun for everyone. Grade 6 students spent the day at their new secondary college (I’m yet to hear how they went but am confident that they enjoyed themselves). All other students spent an hour and a half in their new classrooms meeting their teachers and doing some fun activities. With this in mind, it is probably the appropriate time for me to mention staffing arrangements for 2009. We are very sad to say that Ms Withnall will be leaving the school at the end of the year and travelling up to Queensland to live closer to her family. We all wish her well and hope to hear how she is going and what she is doing occasionally. So, the grade structure and teachers for next year will be:
- Prep/1 Mrs Hochkins
- 1/2 Mrs Schulz
- 2/3 Ms Beale
- 4 Ms Conway (We have been incredibly lucky to appoint Jude to teach a straight grade 4 next year. All the students will remember her as the lovely Life Education teacher. We welcome her to Wesburn)
- 5/6 Mrs Ward
- Library &
Rdg Recovery Mrs Hanson
- Kitchen Garden Ms Morrice
- Art Mrs Allen
Of course we will continue to have our wonderful integration aides Mrs Nippers, Mrs Parsons, Mrs Walsh and Mrs Windebank working with children too. And Mrs Karnaghan (ably assisted by Tracey Toone and Judith Thoma) will continue to help parents with all their enquiries and organise all of us at school.
Until next week …
Anne
