School Performance
So far our students have had two lessons, and lots of practice, of their parts in our whole school performance to be held on Thursday September 10. Having seen some of the rehearsals, I am in awe of how much they have already learnt and how entertaining they are. In two classes I was reduced to tears because what they were performing was so moving! Please make sure that you order your tickets early as, in previous years, they have been sold out and some people miss out. Also, remember to bring along a tissue on performance night (I can guarantee there will be a need for it by the time we reach the finale).
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Grade 2/3 parents, please remember that you have Parent/Teacher interviews this afternoon/night. Ms Beale is keen to share your child’s progress and goals for the rest of the year with you.
Captain’s Table
I am inviting parents to participate in a ‘Captain’s Table’ next Tuesday at 10 am. I would like to discuss student motivation and student decision-making. Personal invitations will be sent home today but I need people who are able to attend to reply by Friday please. Morning tea will be provided while we share constructive ideas - I really value and appreciate your insight into these areas.
Electronic Games
Recently we have noticed a big increase in students bringing along and playing with electronic games in the playground. These can be effective and valuable tools for learning: the students need to figure out the rules for themselves, they seek information and piece together data from many places, they make decisions quickly that have clear consequences, they become experts at multi-tasking and learn to collaborate with others over a range of networks. However, I need to remind students and parents that they are responsible for the equipment that they bring along, and that teachers are not able to ensure that they may not be stolen or broken.
Until next week …
