Policies:
I would like to invite interested parents to view and comment on current school policies. These are subject to a three year review cycle, while at the same time new policies may be introduced and old policies deleted as a result of the many changes in the direction of education. School Council this week ratified a large number of policies that were reviewed or introduced. Some of these included Acceptable Use of Internet & Email. Bus Travellers, Civics & Citizenship, Dangerous, Expensive & Inappropriate Equipment, Drug Education, Equal Opportunity, Gifted/Talented Students, Homework, Literacy, Maths, Personal Learning, Sexual Harassment, Student Welfare, and Thinking Curriculum. As you can imagine, it is impossible to photocopy and send home each of these policies to every family, but they are available for people to view at school. Please feel free to ask.
Swimming:
This is the last reminder for parents to include their children in the swimming programme. Unfortunately, if we have not received your child’s notification and deposit for swimming by Friday, it will be unlikely that they will be able to participate. We need to ensure that we are able to book the correct number of swimming teachers based on the numbers of students who are going.
Prep Enrolments for 2010:
Whilst it may seem quite early to be enrolling students for Prep in 2010 it is actually quite important that schools are able to determine their student numbers as soon as possible so that planning can begin for the coming year. We already have some Prep enrolments but would encourage parents to please enrol their children within the next few weeks. If you are aware of families who are unsure of where they will be enrolling their child perhaps you could tell them what you like about Wessie and suggest that they make an appointment for a tour of our school.
School Brochure:
Attached to this newsletter is a draft of our new school brochure. It highlights some of the great programmes at Wesburn and generally promotes what our fantastic school. The brochure will be made available to families touring the school, kindergarten parents and any other interested people. I would really love to hear from people who might want to comment or make suggestions to improve this document. (It is black and white because it is a draft. The final brochure would be in colour). Please give me a ring or send a note with your ideas to school addressed to me.
Until next week …
Anne
