Chk Chk Chickens!

Our grade 1/2 and Prep/1 classes have been hatching chickens! With fertile eggs and an incubator they’ve been watching with great excitement for the big day.
Grade 1/2 were given a creative writing exercise: Imagine you are inside the egg, just before hatching. What happens next?  Have a read of these excellent reports, that earned each [...]

We started this program in 2007 with funding provided by the state government under the “Go for Your Life” banner.  However, the initial funding amount has now run out, and [...]

Grade 2/3 Discovery time

Recently in discovery time the children started making glasses from cardboard and cellophane. How the world changed when everything was purple or red!
But why did some colours look black through the cellophane? And what does that have to do with a rainbow?

This year children will be learning nursery rhymes in Auslan.  The picture on our right comes from Sign Planet at http://bilby.net/ Hopefully we have lots [...]

Preps make super start to new year !

All children settled into school extremely well. At first they were a little hesitant but it didn’t take long before they were drawing, chatting and playing. Their big buddies have certainly helped them.
All prep children have a big buddy from grade 5/6 who has helped them settle into the routine of school. During the first [...]

The students of 2/3B have started Discovery Time on a Wednesday mornings. They have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the activities and have written some reflections of their learning.

Today I played with Jacinta, Cortney, Caitlyn, Jake, Charlie and Natasha. We all played with the tea set. There were lots of little tea pots. They were very fragile. [...]

Reading Magic – tips for you and your child!

As part of our preparation for school for new children, our Library Teacher and Early Literacy expert Jill Hanson prepared the following tips for parents of prep children to help the reading process. We hope you find it helpful.
The Magic of Reading
From a child’s first steps to their first words, parents play a vital role [...]
