I hate having to do this, but I have another ‘gripe’ about parking.  Occasionally parents are parking in front of the double gates when they pick up their children after school.  This causes a big problem when the After School Care bus arrives to pick up students and cannot park anywhere because it is too big.  Please park in the appropriate spaces provided, not in the driveway or on the opposite side of the road to the school.

Mobile phones are once again becoming an issue at school.  There are very few logical reasons while primary school children should need a mobile phone at school.  If it is imperative that your child has a phone then we require a letter to the teacher explaining the reason.  Children will also need to give the teacher the phone when they arrive at school and can collect it at the end of the day.  As you can imagine, phones can be extremely distracting in class and may also be used inappropriately in the playground.  I’m sure that parents will support the school on this issue.

This evening Grade 5 and 6 students are presenting a Drug Education Forum.  Their parents have been invited and I am confident that they will be surprised at how much their children know about legal and illegal drugs.  There has been a huge amount of preparation for this evening and I would like to thank Mrs Hanson, Mrs Ward and Jude Conway from Life Education for the many extra hours they have put in to make sure the night is both informative and polished.  I look forward to learning more about the impact of drugs on individuals and society.
