School Council

Our school council plays a vital role in setting the direction of our school, within centrally provided guidelines. Its members supporting the Principal in the running of the school, directly influencing the quality of education that our school provides our students.

The objectives of a school council are to:

  • support the efficient governance of the school
  • maintain focus on the best interests of the students
  • improve educational opportunities for students
  • ensure compliance with relevant requirements, regulations, orders, guidelines and policies

Parent/carer members offer valuable perspectives based on their personal experiences, insights from their children and the broader parent/carer community. Teachers bring their extensive educational expertise to the council, benefiting the school community as a whole.

There are currently 6 members of School Council at Wesburn Primary School. Within this, there are three categories of members:

  • A mandated elected parent/carer category (1 member)
  • A mandated elected DET employee category (3 members)
  • An optional community member category (2 members)

  • DET Employee Category: Rachael Meiszies (Secretary) and Tracey Toone (Treasurer)
  • Community Members: Shirley Hanson and Lynn Welsh
